ThatNerdKnows is a small-business technology company based in the Greater Seattle area. This policy covers this website. If you have any questions about it, email support@thatnerdknows.com.

What we collect

You can browse the whole site — and complete the assessment — without creating an account. Here's the information we may receive, and only when you choose to provide it:

• ▸The free assessment.Your answers stay in your own browser as you go (so a refresh doesn't lose your place). Nothing is sent to us unless you click to submit your summary or add your name and email at the end.
• ▸Contact details & messages.If you submit your assessment, use the contact form, or email us, we receive what you send — typically your name, email or phone, and what you told us about your situation. We also note how you found us — the page you first arrived on and the site, search, or campaign link that referred you — so we know which of our efforts are actually helping people; it's only ever used to understand that, never to track you elsewhere.
• ▸Booking a consult.If you book a free consult, that's handled through Microsoft Bookings, which collects the details you enter to schedule the call (like your name, email, and chosen time).
• ▸Anonymous usage analytics.We measure how the site is used — for example, which pages people visit and in what order, how many start the assessment and where they stop, which buttons or links they click (including phone and email links), and which site, search, or link brought you here — so we can make it clearer and see what's working. This is anonymous and aggregated; we don't use it to identify you or follow you around the web.

How we use it

• ▸To respond to you and follow up about what you need — usually within 4 hours on business days.
• ▸To send you a copy of your assessment summary, if you asked for one.
• ▸To schedule and prepare for your free consult.
• ▸To understand which parts of the site help people and which need improving.

What we never do

• ▸We never sell or rent your information to anyone.
• ▸We never send marketing spam. If we follow up, it's a real person about your actual request.
• ▸We don't use creepy ad-tracking cookies or sell data to advertisers.

Cookies & tracking

We don't set advertising cookies, use third-party ad-trackers, or follow you across other websites. To understand how the site is used and which source brought you here, our privacy-friendly analytics store a small amount of anonymous data in your browser's local storage — a first-party mechanism, not an advertising cookie, and nothing is shared with ad networks. If your browser sends a “Do Not Track” signal we honor it and don't collect analytics, and you can opt out any time by clearing this site's data in your browser. Note: if you open the booking tool, Microsoft may set its own cookies to run the scheduler; that's governed by Microsoft's privacy policy.

Where your information lives

We keep things lean and in-house where we can. A few trusted services help run specific pieces:

• ▸Our own server stores assessment submissions and contact messages so nothing gets lost.
• ▸Microsoft 365 delivers our email and runs the booking scheduler.
• ▸PostHog processes the anonymous usage analytics.

How long we keep it

We keep assessment summaries and messages as long as we need them to help you and keep a record of our work together. If you'd like us to delete your information sooner, just ask — see below.

Your choices

You're in control. You can ask us to show you what we have about you, correct it, or delete it — email support@thatnerdknows.com and we'll take care of it. You never have to create an account to use this site, and giving your email is always optional.

Children

This site is meant for businesses and isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information, we'll update this page and the date at the top. For anything important, the plain-English summary is the part to read.
